Strategy to Solution
From Strategy To Solution
Lets look at a high level overview of some of the major project phases and methodologies employed by Artech. Although each customer may have different and unique needs, the Artech methodology consistently follows a business and process driven approach.
Step 1: Information Technology Strategy
Purpose: The Enterprise IT Strategy will outline a "Road map" for Business Process Support, Applications & Data, and Technology. Depending on the size of your business, an IT Strategy should be updated every 3-5 years.
Deliverable: Current Systems Assessment, Current and Future Functionality Gaps, System Disposition Recommendations, Technology Architecture Recommendations, High Level Application Project Plan (task, estimated cost), Organizational Impact Analysis , Delivered Document and Summary Presentation.
Step 2: Project Foundation
Purpose: Define why the business needs the project and what the project will deliver. This phase defines the target objectives and project requirements.
Deliverable: Goals, Business Drivers, Critical Success Factors, Prioritized Business Requirements, Application Architecture, Project Work Plan, Staffing and Cost Estimates for subsequent phases.
Step 3: Conceptual Design and Prototype
Purpose: Translate raw prioritized business requirements into systems components. Prototype application interface, workflow processes and usability. Cross reference Conceptual Design to Business Requirements from foundation phase. Define Security Processes.
Deliverable: Application Modules Matrix, Definition of Data Sources, Use Case, External Systems Interface Definition, Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD), User Interface Prototype, Work-flow Definition and Diagrams.
Step 4: Detail Design and Build
Purpose: Finalize the design of the detailed application, data and technology components. Program system components and interfaces. Unit test application modules.
Deliverable: Completed Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD), Algorithm and Function Specifications, Performance Processes, Interfaces, Reports, System Administration. System Installation, Programming and Data Loading, and Unit Testing Scripts.
Step 5: System Testing and Rollout
Purpose: Test the new system within an environment that models the business. Begin using the new system to support you business.
Deliverable: Completed System Test Plan, Parallel Test Plan, Cut Over Procedures, System Administration and Training Materials. A scalable system to support the business.
